Believing God For Your Children

Believing God For Your Children

“ You’ll never be a perfect parent, but you can be a praying parent. Your prayers for your children are the greatest legacy you can leave.” ― Mark Batterson

My children are far from perfect, but where would they be if I hadn’t spent countless hours praying for their well being and for God’s will to be done in their lives? In this treacherous day and time, we cannot afford to be spiritually lazy or half-step in prayer. I Peter 5.8 tells us that Satan is looking for the weakest link. The enemy prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour, so we must be alert and on guard at all times. If Satan can’t get to you, then he will attempt to destroy your children. We must pray specifically and with fervency. We must pray with power. We must pray with authority, and we must pray the word of God.

Didn’t God save Abraham and his entire family from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah? God also saved Noah and his family from the flood that covered the earth. The same God will save and protect your children also. As a parent, you have the Lord’s permission to stand in the gap for your young children and for your adult children. Extend those prayers to your grandchildren and to your great grandchildren.

Matthew 17.14-21 And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.”  Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.  Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

What is Jesus saying to us in this passage? He’s telling us not to give up. Don’t give up believing, don’t give up seeking him, and don’t give up standing in the gap for your children. Where would this parent be if he had stopped with the disciples? His persistence caused a miracle to manifest on behalf of his child. Even if you can’t touch your children physically, know that there is no distance in prayer.

Take nothing for granted. Employ the angels of goodness and mercy by declaring his word over your children. Declare those things over their lives that are not, as though they are. Declare the protection and the peace of God. Declare wisdom and good health. Declare God’s favor over them and most importantly, cover them daily with blood of Jesus!

Prayer For Your Children:

Father in the name of Jesus, you said in Job 22.28, that I can declare a thing and it shall be established unto me. I thank you for my child/children name(s) and that they are a blessing of the Lord.

I cover my children with the blood of Jesus and I declare that they are your disciples and great is their peace. I declare that _________ is blessed because he/she is the seed of the righteous. I declare that no weapon formed against him/her shall be able to prosper. I declare that the angels of goodness and mercy are encamped round about him/her, protecting him/her in all of his/her ways. I declare that no evil shall come against _______ and no plague shall come near his/her dwelling. I declare that _______ is full of the knowledge of your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding and that he/she walk worthy before you unto all pleasing. I thank you Lord and I declare that ________ shall fulfill the hope of his/her calling in Christ Jesus and bring you glory. I declare that ________ is blessed in the city and blessed in the field. He/she is blessed going in and blessed coming out. I thank you Lord that _________ is your sheep and the voice of a stranger he/she will not follow.

Are You Reigning Or Complaining?

Are You Reigning Or Complaining?

Are You Reigning Or Complaining?

“The soul that gives thanks can find comfort in everything; the soul that complains can find comfort in nothing.”—Hannah Whitall Smith

Most of us feel that we have a right to complain about our past, present, and future circumstances. It’s human nature, right? “It’s too hot.” “It’s too cold!” “It’s not enough!” “It’s too much!” “Too many bills!” “Too little money!” “Too much pain!” “Not enough gain!” “I’m unhappy!” “I’m unhealthy!” “I’m unfulfilled!” “I’m unsatisfied!” “I hate my job!” “I don’t like my neighbors!” “I want more!” Complain! Complain! Complain!

Who are you complaining against and what are you complaining about? Are your complaints really against the author and the finisher of your faith? Do you complain because of where the Lord has you at the present moment?

Like the children of Israel, many of us have missed the point of our wilderness experience, and we have missed God.

And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “How long shall I bear with this evil congregation who complain against me? I have heard the complaints which the children of Israel make against me. Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in my hearing, so I will do to you: The carcasses of you who have complained against me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered… Numbers 14.26-39

We miss God when we focus on the problem instead of focusing on the provider. We miss God when we allow distractions to stagnate us. We miss God when we allow the little picture to move us away from the BIG picture!

Reigning is defined as exercising your power and authority to dominate and to be in control. God’s desire is for you to reign and rule from your position of AUTHORITY, not from a position of INFERIORITY. II Peter 1.3 says that “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness.”

Why complain when you could use that same power and energy to reign? Complaining moves you out of gratitude mode and into desert mode. Yes, I said “Desert Mode.”

The desert is a dry, unproductive place, with very little growth. It’s a place with no water, no word, and no blessings. God never told us to complain about the mountain. He told us to speak to the mountain and it would obey us.

Moses angered God because he allowed the complaining Hebrews to influence him. The bible says that Moses disobeyed when he struck the rock, instead of following God’s instructions of speaking to it.

When we use our authority by speaking, decreeing, or declaring a thing, it comes into being. Our voice is the primary way that we exercise our rule and reign on the earth.

Here are a couple of scientific facts to consider regarding a complaining spirit:

  • It releases the stress hormone known as cortisol which can raise your blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

  • It rewires your brain for negativity which in turn causes more negative energy to be released. This in turn, repels positive energy.

  • It stops the supernatural flow of blessings into your life.

  • It hinders your creativity, intuitiveness, and ability to receive new ideas.

You have been given power to reign, rule, and to dominate on purpose. Exercise your God-given rights. Start reigning today and put your complaining to flight.
